THE ACCOMPANIST - BARBARA BIRKETT ROWE

Barbara Birkett Rowe, accompanist, graduated from Westminster Choir College with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano and a minor in voice.  She received her Masters in Music Education from the University of Bridgeport and taught vocal elementary music for twenty years in the West Haven, Westport and Fairfield, CT public schools. Active as an organist and choir director in the area, Barbara has served Fairfield-Grace United Methodist Church, Nichols Methodist Church, Trinity Episcopal Church in Nichols, Monroe Congregational Church, and is currently music director at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Monroe, CT.  As well as her church job, she is the organist at Congregation B'Nai Israel in Bridgeport, CT.

 

Accompanist for the Sacred Heart Choir for many years, Barbara became director of the choir and conductor of the Sacred Heart Orchestra in 1999 through 2001. She has also conducted the Mitchell College Choir and the U.S.Coast Guard Academy women's ensemble, as well as being accompanist for the U.S. Coast Guard Glee Club for many years.

 

Barbara has performed harpsichord and organ concerti with the Community Chamber Orchestra, has accompanied Spectrum concerts at Fairfield High School, and has performed many times in NYC at St. Patrick's Cathedral and at President Clinton's first inauguration with the Coast Guard Glee Club.
